Our mission
The Lackawanna County Library System provides free and equitable access to information, learning, and community connection across Lackawanna County. Through our member libraries and the Bookmobile, we work alongside our communities to build knowledge, foster literacy, and create welcoming spaces for everyone — regardless of age, background, or means.
Where we serve
Our service area covers all of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania — about 216,000 residents from Scranton out to the surrounding boroughs and the North Pocono region. The system is made up of nine member libraries plus the Bookmobile.

Governance
LCLS is governed by a community Board of Trustees who set policy, approve budgets, and represent the public interest in library service across Lackawanna County. The day-to-day work of the system is led by Executive Director Sandy Longo and the staff of the member libraries. Board meeting information and policies are published under Policies.
Annual Report
Every year the Lackawanna County Library System publishes an annual report covering programs delivered, items borrowed, members served, and the community partnerships that made it all possible.

The Lackawanna County Library System is funded by Lackawanna County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, with additional support from gifts and from local Friends of the Library groups.
